A warning for boaters on the Erie Canal in Oneida County after a bride collapsed on Thursday.

There's an imminent bridge collapse along Higginsville Road in the town of Verona. The DOT says the bridge has been closed since 2008 and was in the process of being demolished when the structure shifted.

Crews are assessing the situation and coming up with a plan to safely remove it.

There is no danger to the public but out of caution, the canal is closed to boat traffic in the area until further notice. That part of the canal connects Oneida Lake and Sylvan Beach with Rome.
