The numbers are in, and the 172nd New York State Fair went out with a bang.
The fair broke its attendance record this year with 1.3 million people in total visiting Central New York for the 13-day event. On the final day, more than 91,000 people made their way to the fairgrounds.
1.2 million people attended the fair in 2018.
The fair has set a total attendance record for the fourth year in a row. Attendance in the last four fairs has gone up 46-percent.
The fair set five single-day records along the way.
Governor Cuomo visited the fairgrounds on Labor Day, popping balloons with the old record on them. Cuomo says these record-breaking summers are a sign that Upstate New York is thriving.
"When the fair does well, it's more than just a fair doing well,β said Cuomo. βIt is the New York spirit. It is the family coming together, it's people coming from all parts of the state, because we're proud of who we are and we want to share what we're doing."
Cuomo says the New York State fair is the third most attended state fair in the country.
