Another state fair is in the books.

While more attendance records were broken, there's also more cash coming through the fairgrounds as well. Though promotions such as Dollar Day make it cheap to get in, that's not where they're making money.

Because so many people travel to the grounds, vendors and sponsors are willing to pay more to be there. The average person spends about $77 during their visit.

That can have a big ripple effect.

"For the community for the sales tax we generate, for the income that gets spent here, for the local people who get hired for those 13 days,"said New York State Fair Director Troy Waffner. "We hire 1,500 people, the midway hires a lot of people, and obviously our vendors hire people. There are probably 5-or-6,000 jobs that get created over those 13 days of the fair."

Overall, more than 1.3 million visits were counted at the fair this year.
