When it comes to ride safety, New York State Fair officials want parents to know, they're all over it.

Inspectors have been on the grounds checking each and every ride.

First, they check all pieces before anything gets put together. Once in place, they look again to make sure everything is secure. The ride is also tested in motion.

Even the operators are inspected to be sure they understand the rules and limits of the ride.

"We have as many inspectors here as we can have," Director for the Division of Safety and Health Eileen Franko said. "We have nine here right now checking every ride before it opens. We will also be here tomorrow, and everyday during the fair to check it."

All 72 rides must pass inspections. You can ask the operator for proof if you're still nervous.
