Mocktails or non-alcoholic beverages are trending in bars nationwide and a Syracuse bar wants to give visitors a taste.
Wunderbar hosts "zero proof" nights on Tuesdays. The bartenders use fresh, local ingredients to make a variety of liquor free-drinks.
Visitors can still order alcohol, but only mocktail menus are on the bar. The general manager says this creates an atmosphere where all people can feel welcome.
"Maybe someone who is trying to step away from the alcohol scene and is still craving that social interaction, but doesn't want to sit down somewhere and have all the alcohol and cocktails in your face," said Ashley Slater, the Wunderbar general manager. "It makes it easier to go out and make those choices to not drink, but you're getting everything else you would have from a bar."
The bartenders will rotate the menu based on the season. Right now, the top mocktails are mixed with kombucha or CBD oil.
