The Oneida County Libertarian Party announced its 2019 candidates at Character Coffee in Utica.

The candidates include Utica common council candidates Katie Martin and Michael Gentile, council president incumbent Michael Galime, county legislature candidate Tim Julian, and county executive candidate Michael Hennessy.

Hennessy is also on the Democratic line, challenging incumbent Republican Anthony Picente. Hennessy said community members should have more power.

"We don't need people telling us what we have to do. We have to hear from the public and move from the bottom up and make decisions," Hennessy said.

The 2018 Libertarian candidate for lieutenant governor, Andrew Hollister, made the announcement.
