The New York State Fair has waived parking fees for its new lot at the corner of Willis Avenue and State Fair Boulevard.

The lot was added this year in hopes of easing some of the problems with congestion experienced in the past. More than 10 acres are leased to fit nearly 2,000 vehicles.

Fair visitors will have to take a shuttle bus to get back and forth to the main gate. Fair officials warn that pedestrians cannot walk on State Fair Boulevard from the Willis Avenue lot to the main gate.

There are also changes to park and ride. The fair expanded a couple of lots, but also got rid of four of them.

The New Venture Gear and Hancock Airport lots are both gone. People who normally use Long Branch Park will now have to use Farrell Road, and Regional Market traffic is moved over to Destiny USA.

Destiny and Farrell Road are two of the three lots that are being expanded — ShoppingTown Mall is the other.
