On and off the court, it's a family. Most of the Coker Select boys have played together since first grade such as JoJo Williams, also known as, “The General."

"I tend to keep the team together in tight situations. I just help everybody. Don't let anybody put their head down," said Williams.

It was a strategy that paid off. The team went all the way to the National Travel Basketball Association Championship in Myrtle Beach and won.

"It just was exciting, success, happiness, proudness," said Coker Select player James Miller.

"It felt good because there was a lot of competition down there," said Coker Select player Dejour Reaves.

"We believed in ourselves. We believed in our guards and stuff. We played as a team, so if one was down, we told them to keep their head up," said Coker Select player Benjamin Kemp.

The last time the team won a championship they were in the fourth and fifth grade.  They even came close last year.

"Last year was like a knock on the door. But this year, we kicked it through," said Kemp.

They made fans proud as well as their coach who's been there since the teens were tykes.

"The maturity is a great thing. They're not only great basketball players, but they're great role models - We're very happy and it was due. It was due...We wanted to go out with a bang and we wanted to represent," said Coker Select Head Coach Angelo Coker.
