Oneida County leaders say hosting Woodstock 50 could pose a "significant challenge."

In recent weeks, Vernon Downs has been mentioned as a possible landing spot for the troubled festival. This comes after Watkins Glen International operators decided not to continue with plans to host the concerts.

Oneida County has a history with Woodstock, dating back to the 30-year anniversary show in 1999. That festival in Rome did not end smoothly—with angry fans, and fires being set.

"With the event just a little over a month away, we have been asked to prepare in just days what has failed to get done in over a year of negotiations and preparations at the previous location," Oneida County Executive Anthony Picente said in a statement.

He goes on to say that the county's foremost concern is the safety and welfare of Oneida County neighbors.
