Claims are circulating social media that a Watertown teacher conducted a mock slave trade with her students. 

"And then they say, I'm sorry. When they knew darn well that they meant to say that." 

Parents are taking to social media complaining that a fourth grade teacher at North Elementary School had black students portray those enslaved and white students portray masters. 

There is no NAACP chapter in Jefferson County but in Onondaga County, the organization is reacting. 

"It just boggles my mind that we're in 2019 and we're not being sensitive to people's feelings. How dare people? It just boggles my mind and I don't think I could wrap my mind around it if I tried." 

The district hasn't explained what happened but they did release a statement. 

"The Watertown City School District has received complaints from parents that a fourth grade teacher exercised poor judgment in teaching a recent lesson. The teacher has been placed on administrative leave pending a full investigation into the matter. The school district will not be providing additional comments until the investigation has been completed." 

The President of the Onondaga County NAACP says parents have reached out to the organization. The organization is planning to go up to the North Country to meet with concerned parents.

"There shouldn't be a soul in this universe that should be saying, 'Well maybe it's okay.' It wasn't okay. It wasn't okay during slavery times. It isn't okay now. There shouldn't be anyone on the fence. Make no mistake about it."

Linda Brown-Robinson is urging the accused teacher be fired from the district. 

We also reached out to the attorney general's office because they have responded to similar situations in other areas. We're told they are aware of the situation and looking into it.
