Cornell University's class of 2019 is being celebrated this weekend.

A convocation ceremony took place Saturday for seniors, with a keynote speaker who inspired many as children: Cornell alum Bill Nye, aka The Science Guy.

He graduated from the university in 1977 with a degree in mechanical engineering.

His speech focused on climate change and what the next generation can do to tackle the problem.

He said we need clean water, renewable electricity, and internet access for everyone.

Nye also said that everyone has something they can teach others.

"Everyone you ever meet knows something you don't. Everyone,” Nye said. “Farmers know things about plants that most of us, even botanists, will never know. Bricklayers have an intimate knowledge of what it takes to lay brick. Cooks know how to use copper bowls to control egg protein, which I find quite cool."

The university presented Nye with a Convocation Medallion following his speech.
