New York State Police continue to investigate the homicide of two teenage girls in Mattydale more than 50 years later.
On Aug. 11, 1967, Mary Ann Marzullo, 14, of North Syracuse, and Jacueline Saunders, 13, of Mattydale, left the Marzullo home around 8 p.m. and walked to the Mattydale Field Days.
Witnesses saw the girls at the event, with the last sighting being between 10:45 p.m. and 11 p.m. when they were walking northbound on Brewerton Road in Mattydale.
When the girls did not return home at the agreed upon time, family went searching for the teens. Then they reported them missing to law enforcement.
On Aug. 12, the bodies of both teens were found in a field on Oxbow Road in the Town of Cicero. An autopsy revealed that they had been strangled.
"We're still out there looking for these people." said New York State Police Public Information Officer Jack Keller. "We wanted to let their loved ones, may be distance relatives, whatever they may be, are forgotten. We're still out their looking for these perpetrators."
Anyone with information on his disappearance is asked to call Troop D Headquarters at (315) 366-6000.
