The vigil was organized by the dean-- chaplains and staff of Hendricks Chapel and the Muslim Student Association. It was held so that students could grieve together and in a place of peace following the attacks.

More than four dozen people were killed in the attacks on Friday.

"Regardless if it happens thousands of miles away, I think it has global impact. It's not just attack on muslim community, it is attack on global community and as believers, it hurts us," said Syracuse University Muslim Chapter Amir Duric.

The University will hold other events throughout the week in order to honor the victims. Counseling will also be offered to students.
