Winterfest brings many fun cold weather events to downtown Syracuse. One of the more unique ones is ice sculpting.

Adam Vural has been carving ice blocks at the festival for 15 years. This year he sculpted the numbers of the year, and two hearts.

He enjoys it because you never know what will come from a block of ice.

"It's up to the interpretation of the artist," Vural said. "It's like a block of clay, you can't do whatever you want with it. Sometimes it [is] easier to carve, sometimes it [is] more difficult depending on the temperature."

Winterfest events continue through the 24th.
