A Dexter man is dead following a crash in Jefferson County Friday night. 

According to the Sheriff's Office, 40-year-old Loren Richardson was driving north on Middle Road in the town of Brownville when he veered off the road and came to a rest in deep snow. Shortly after his car caught fire. 

The incident was called in by someone driving by. 

Unfortunately, Richardson was not able to escape flames. 

Investigators are still unclear what caused him to drive off the road.
