The Lysander man convicted for killing his wife and then putting her body in a storage container was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison on Friday.

Pete Trifunovski admitted to the crime a year ago, though he told detectives he didn’t mean to do it. He was found guilty of second-degree murder in December.

“You’re going to be locked up, Mr. Trifunovski, for the rest of your life,” the judge said in court Friday. “And that’s not enough punishment. It’s not even close.”

Deputies say they responded to the couple's home at least a dozen times over 18 years for reports of domestic violence.

After killing her, Trifunovski took her body to a storage facility in Lysander according to authorities. Co-workers reported her missing after she didn't show for work.

The Onondaga County Sheriff's Office brought in search teams to look for her, only to find her body following a tip from her husband.

The couple's son was one of the key witnesses at the trial.
