More than 200 workers at a local call center in Watertown will be laid off this spring.

The Concentrix CVG Corporation on Arsenal Street lost a major client contract. The lost contract will lead to 232 employees to be laid off starting April 30.

Concentrix is working to find employees other job resources, but there are no other Concentrix locations in Upstate New York. More than 500 employees in total work at the Watertown call center location.

Local workforce agencies say this will be a hard hit to the community.

"232 layoffs is pretty significant for this area,” said The Workplace Director Cheryl Mayforth. “So you know we're quite concerned. But we have a rapid response team that is ready to go in to the facility. They will help the individuals with resume preparation, doing some other preparations for layoffs."

The company has locations nation-wide and is based is in Ohio.
