A small church in Mexico is impacting hundreds of lives within their community and beyond.

The Lighthouse Mexico Church members spend the first Saturday of every month preparing boxes of food and toiletries for the less fortunate.  The pastor says local residents and some as far as Utica depend on these boxes each month and nothing goes to waste.

They deliver the remaining items to food pantries and other churches.

One of the young volunteers say it's important to give rather than take, and seeing people drive away with a box makes her feel happy.

"I hope they feel grateful that they have somewhere where they can go when they're in need or somewhere to just feel safe," said Jalynn Russell, a volunteer with the church.

This church group has been handing out food for the past 23 years, feeding nearly 50,000 people.

If your interested in donating, the church is always in need of food and toiletries.
