Inmates at the Cortland County Jail were evacuated due to a roof leak.   

Deputies say it started after the recent heavy rain.

As the rain continued, so did the number of leaks throughout the jail.

Inmates were taken to three neighboring county jails for temporary housing.

The jail will continue business as usual when dealing with arrest and confinement.

At this time the extent of the damage is unknown.
