The weather is causing flooding concerns in the Mohawk Valley.

Governor Cuomo toured the area of Sauquoit Creek as an ice jam is leading to rising water in the village of Whitesboro. Suggested evacuations are in place for some people living in the village, which includes homes on Sauquoit Street and Ellis Avenue.

The area is no stranger to flooding and Governor Cuomo says they know what the problem is and that they are working to fix it.

"We have equipment there now,” said Cuomo. “Heavy equipment that is breaking up the ice and moving the ice to get the water flowing and clearing the ice that backs up behind the CSX Bridge."

Cuomo stating, "As they used to say in the old neighborhood, enough is enough."

That was his message to the flood vicitims of Whitesboro. He refered to the fact that flood situations like the ones which have been happening over the past five years are not okay. His main focus was towards a piece of infastructure.

"The basic problem is a CSX railroad bridge," said Cuomo. "We are going to take it up with CSX they know about the problem they have been informed about the problem and quite frankley they have not been coorperative."

CSX railroad later releasing this statement:

"“CSX is aware of the concerns about flooding in Whitesboro. We have been coordinating with the State of New York and will continue to cooperate as they work to find possible solutions.”

Oneida County Executive, Anthony Picente agreeing with the Govenor.

"There's a lot of overall maintein but the govenor is right there needs to be a new bridge," said Picente.

According to the govenor he said he will be contacting CSX this week and if they don't commit to an action he says the state will file a law suit.

For flood victim Patrick O'Connor he is hoping for the govenor to be a man of his word.

"I would have liked for him to comite to a drop dead date of when he will be reaching out," said O'Connor. "But he didn't do that but he knows that is the expectation. He threw it out there so we exspect for him to follow up.

The Red Cross opened an emergency shelter at the Whitesboro Community Center.

Seven families showed up to the Whitestown Community Center, and were soon able to return home.
