Emergency responders are sharing tips to stay safe in these frigid temperatures.

At AMR, they see an increase in slips and falls, car accidents and people overexerting themselves while shoveling or taking care of the snow. They advise people to prepare with extra food and emergency supplies, like blankets in your car.

Conditions can be challenging for crews too as roads and sidewalks are icy.

"The tough part about this weather is that the people who are prepared are still prone to injury, depending on what they're doing. And that's our biggest concern, is because you can plan ahead but sometimes injuries still do happen. But we still do the people who don't plan ahead and they still get injured," said AMR Operations Supervisor Nick Corbishley.

AMR workers say it's important for neighbors to help each other and for residents to make sure they clear off snow in front of their homes.

If ambulances can't get to a patient they will seek the assistance of local fire departments.
