Road2Recovery CNY held their first family recovery program at the Center of Grace in Manilus Saturday.

Fourteen participants learned more about addiction, the different resources that are available, and how to cope.

They also had massages, practiced reiki, and took part in mediation and breathing exercises. The co-founder says this program is really the first of its kind in the area.

"I hope they [have] a better understanding of what addiction is about, what their loved one is going through, a little bit less judgment from themselves and from others, [and] maybe [formed] a connection with another person who is here, who is going through the same thing," said Darlene Endy, the Road2RecoveryCNY ceo and co-founder. "I just want them to know they are not alone."

The organization has funded long-term treatment for 14 people so far.
