The trial for Tasheonia Hills continues in Oneida County. Hills is accused of killing her 44-year-old mother, Irene Williams.

On Tuesday, the defense called Dr. Laura McCord to the stand. The focus of her testimony was on mental health.

McCord is the psychiatric doctor who assessed Hills following the murder on February 6, 2017. McCord saw Hills at the CNY Psychiatric Center in Marcy.

She testified that Hills claimed inner demons told her to murder her mother the night of February 6 inside her Humphrey Gardens apartment in North Utica.

Health charts displayed in court show Hills was in what doctors call a psychosis state.

The prosecution interviewed Dr. McCord as well, asking if it's possible Hills faked symptoms. McCord said it could very well be possible in this case.

A forensic doctor is expected to take the stand Wednesday.
