Leaders from the Haudenosaunee Confederacy and the Workers Center of Central New York gathered for a "Vigil Against Violence at the Border."
Syracuse resident Shelia Sicilia, is showing support and bringing supplies to migrants at the United States border.
Advocates say the migrants are not a threat, and should be welcomed in this country built by immigrants.
"It seems like it's getting worse and our country is divided on the whole issue," said Sidney Hill, the Haudenosaunee Confederacy Tadodaho. "We feel that it's our duty to support these people and their struggles, if it's just acknowledgment, if it's helping out and let them tell us what we can do."
The CNYY Interfaith Sanctuary is collecting donations to send to Sicilia to buy food and supplies for the refugees.
