A former NFL star and Syracuse University football player announces he's battling a deadly disease.
Tim Green posted his story on Facebook Wednesday night about how he is fighting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), or Lou Gehrig's Disease.
At first, his doctors thought his football playing days caused him to have problems with his hands. ALS became the diagnosis after surgery didn't fix the problem.
Green was a defensive lineman for Syracuse University when Coach Dick MacPherson roamed the sidelines for the Orange. He's kept a public profile after his football career, as an author, commentator and speaker.
Green says he will share his story with 60 Minutes on CBS this weekend. He's hoping to raise money for the Tackle ALS fundraiser.
