State police are investigating an alleged murder-suicide after two people were found dead inside a home in Delaware County.

The house is located on State Highway 10 in the town of Stamford.

State police say just before 2:00 p.m. Tuesday they received a call to check the welfare of Christopher German, who did not show up for work in Cooperstown.

Troopers responded to his estranged wife Lisa's home in the town of Stamford. It was at that time police found 57-year-old Christopher German and 52-year-old Lisa, dead on the floor by the front door.

After autopsies, it was revealed that Lisa was shot twice, while Christopher took his own life with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities say the scene is consistent with a murder-suicide and Christopher was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A 38-caliber handgun was used in the deaths and was registered to him.

Police don't know what lead up to the incident, but they did say that before 9:00 p.m. on Monday someone had contact with Lisa.

The couple had three children, including a son and two daughters – ages 20, 17 and 13.

"It's obviously just a very sad, tragic event that took place,” said Scott Heggelke of the New York State Police. “Again, there's obviously no risk to the public, there's no public safety threat, it's just, come together as a community and be there for each other during this time."
