BALDWINSVILLE, N.Y. -- There's nothing like picking fresh, plump blueberries and bringing them home.

Tuesday, marked the start of blueberry picking season at Abbott Farms in Baldwinsville.

The farm's production manager says the crop is large and sweet thanks in part to some hot, humid weather in June.

"There's almost no limit on what you can do with them.  You can make them into pies, ice creams, jams, jellies, juices, throw them in a smoothie.  I like to eat them frozen. They're like little popcicles, when you do that.  So, there's a lot you can do with them," said Abbott Farms Production Manager Michael Blair.

You can also find fresh raspberries in season at several locations across the region.
