With the Boilermaker Road Race only seven days away, the week's festivities kicked off with the annual committee run Sunday.

The run gave event volunteers a chance to run the course and receive their finisher's pin.

More than 4,500 volunteers give their time on Boilermaker Sunday.

"It's important for, I think, our community, as well as to be able to come out and support the runners and to celebrate Utica as well as the Boilermaker," said committee member Wayne Murphy.

Sunday morning's run was a warm one. Volunteers say they hope the temperatures are a bit cooler on race day.
