You might notice some letters missing from signs, brands, and websites associated with the American Red Cross.

As part of the the Missing Type Campaign, the letters A, B, and O will be disappearing.

The letters signify the main blood types, and when the donations are low, patients can be impacted.

Organizers hope this new strategy will remind people to give.

“Every two seconds someone in America needs blood,” said Western New York American Red Cross CEO Rosie Taravella. “Transfusions are so common if you're fighting a disease of if you've had a terrible accident. It's really other people's blood that is responsible for lives being saved each and every day."
