LIVERPOOL, N.Y. — The Butterfly Garden of Hope served as a fitting place to remember those who died in service to their country.

HOPE for Bereaved hosted a Memorial Day ceremony Monday in the garden, in which bricks, benches and other tokens bear the names of loved ones no longer here.

In addition to honoring fallen servicemen and women, the ceremony provided an opportunity to remember others who have died.

"You know people, one time it was a reporter that said to me, 'How do you keep doing this?' He took his glasses off and wrinkled up his face. It's rewarding to us because we do see people get to a better place," said Therese Schoeneck, Hope for Bereaved Founder.

HOPE for Bereaved has been around 40 years and this marks 25 years for the Butterfly Garden of Hope.
