It's still unclear who will fill three vacant school board seats in the Utica City School District.

Due to complications with absentee ballots, candidates will have to wait until next week to find out the results.

According to the school district's attorney, six candidates were running in the election, but due to legal issues, only four were initially placed on the original ballots. However, a Supreme Court judge ruled that all six names should be listed.

"New ballots had to be printed, which delayed sending out absentee ballots to the people that applied for absentee ballots. That delay was approximately a week and a half past when they normally would have been sent out," said attorney Donald Gerace.

Officials say the numbers are extremely close and absentee ballots could determine the winners. The judge issued another ruling Wednesday, extending the deadline to receive absentee ballots to Tuesday.
