Construction will soon begin on three salt storage facilities in the North County.

The project is estimated to cost $600,000 for the sites in Watertown, Lowville and Bombay.

Work will be done to improve the roof systems and building structures.

Officials say this should ensure the facilities will last for at least another 25 years.

"They just aged out of service,” said D.O.T Public Information Officer Michael R. Flick. “Between the heavy winters here and usage they get beat up and worn out. So we're going to be doing some replacement work here."

Officials say the projects should be completed by the fall.
