ROME, N.Y. -- Rome is looking forward to what the future could hold for downtown.
Mayor Jackie Izzo spoke about the revitalization coming to the area in her State of the City address Tuesday night.
The city is looking at ways to spend the $10 million in state money they received in September as part of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative.
Some projects include creating more housing, improving the Capitol Theatre, and building a new transfer station for Centro buses.
"Those are going to be transformational projects the DePaul project in south Rome it’s going to bring much needed housing and clean up a very blighted area it just opens up so many new opportunities,” said Izzo.
The DePaul project includes plans to demolish the DeWitt Clinton School to make room for apartments and townhouses.
