AUSTIN, Texas — A new program at the University of Texas hopes to shed light on the issue of sexual assault and what men can do to prevent it.

“Maculine-UT”  is a project by Voices Against Violence at the university. A committee with that program organizes workshops, seminars and public events--all to create a culture on campus about consent, speaking out, and expanding the traditional definition of masculinity. Organizers want the dialogue to bring down the number of sexual assaults.

“At its core it's really about engaging men, bringing men to the table to get them to join the effort to combat sexual assault and interpersonal violence on campus,” Chris Brownson, Director of the Counseling and Mental Health Center said.

UT has a hotline for students going through a personal crisis. They can call  512-417-2255.
