UTICA, N.Y. -- Masonic Care Community is celebrating a big milestone.

May 1st marks its 125th anniversary.

The facility is home to more than 500 seniors.

Leaders say they hope to continue expanding and are in the preliminary planning stages.

Right now they're trying to determine what the community needs are.

"We're looking at wellness-type programs where we might have gymnasiums or fitness centers. We might as well have an aquatic center. We might have places where people can go and have instructions on nutritional issues that they might have," said Masonic Care Community Executive Director Robert Raffle. They're also looking into more housing.

An event is taking place later this month to celebrate the big anniversary.

A free family party is happening at the Masonic Care Community in Utica on Saturday, May 19th.

It starts at 4:30 p.m. and ends with fireworks.

There will also be pony rides, food trucks, bounce houses, live music, and more.
