The number crunching has been completed, and it's not good news for Utica taxpayers.

Residents will see their property taxes jump by 6.7 percent.

The Utica city comptroller says a homeowner assessed at $55,000 will have to pay $98 more in taxes.

City officials originally thought taxpayers would see a $77 increase, but the change comes after a fluid budget process, which included a veto and a failed override attempt on Monday.

Utica Mayor Robert Palmeiri says the tax hike was caused by a one-time $700,000 payment and increased mandates.
