What should have been a quiet trip to the supermarket for Chris Campbell turned into a rescue mission.

"At first, I really didn't think it was somebody being robbed. At first I thought it was someone in a relationship arguing over the keys to the car," said Campbell.

Police say it happened Sunday afternoon at the Erie Boulevard East Price Chopper in Syracuse. A man attempted to rob a woman loading her car with groceries. Campbell didn't want his face shown on camera, but it was his dash-cam that caught the entire incident on video.

"My wife went to go inside and I was going to go with her, but I had just come back from a job and had a bunch of tools in the back of the truck that I kind of wanted to keep an eye on," explained Campbell.

In the video, you can see the suspect throwing the woman to the ground. Campbell says shortly after, he heard her yell for help.

"After I heard someone yell 'please help me,' I knew they weren't together and he was someone to get," said Campbell.

Campbell then approached the two and threw the suspect to the ground.

"I think I may have thrown him to the ground so hard, it might have hurt him a little bit," he said.

Campbell waited for about three minutes for police to arrive.

"I didn't have to physically hold him down. Once he got thrown to the ground and knew everything was over with, he just stayed there," said Campbell.

Even though the man could have had a weapon, Campbell says he had to do something.

"Once you see somebody in trouble, you're going to act accordingly," he said.

And when it comes to doing the right thing, he says it is just a part of his upbringing.

"I'm from the country. You can pretty much call me a redneck, and out there, you don't put hands on a lady," said Campbell.
