Officials with the Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Syracuse are once again responding to complaints made by residents.

Among the concerns is a lack of heat. In a statement to Spectrum News, Van Duyn said that's due to a new heating system that was installed as part of a $5 million renovation. A leak caused temperatures to drop in some areas within the facility.

But, Van Duyn said multiple independent heating contractors are monitoring the system hourly.

As for other resident care complaints, Van Duyn added an investigation is underway and a full plan of action will be released sometime next week.

The facility said in the latest statement, “The Van Duyn Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing is deeply troubled by recent patient satisfaction complaints at our rehabilitation and nursing facility. These complaints do not reflect our standards and values and are counter to our mission of an unwavering commitment to the well-being of each resident and family member.”
