Two Auburn Police officers were hospitalized Wednesday night, after they were injured while trying to take a man into custody.

Police say they were already on Washington Street for an assault investigation, when they got word of a situation next door.

They say Justin Tillmon, threw a 27-year-old woman down a flight of stairs, then assaulted her and locked her in a separate room in the basement of the apartment.

They say he eventually freed the victim, but when officers went to take him into custody, Tillmon fought back, causing two officers to need medical treatment at the hospital.

Tillmon is facing charges of second-degree kidnapping, three counts of assault, strangulation and resisting arrest.

Police are still asking anyone who may have witnessed the incident to call 315-253-3231.
