Not everyone can avoid the freezing temperatures. For some, their jobs keep them out in the elements, like tow truck drivers.
Towing companies have been busy assisting disabled drivers.
Drivers at Epolito's Towing and Recovering in Syracuse said the calls started coming in around 6 p.m. Thursday, and were non-stop. By Friday afternoon, the calls began to slow down.
How do these men and women who are out in the cold take on the freezing weather?
"I have to be out there. I have to prepare for the worst," said Mike Epolito. "I have probably six layers on right now; insulated pants, you know, everything, doubled up on the socks, extra dry clothes in the truck."
Some towing companies say due to the high volume of disabled vehicles, they've actually been driving around to assist people rather than waiting for phone calls.
