It's that time of year again where the community is asked to donate bicycles. For the 22nd year, the CNY Family Bike Giveaway will give bikes to children and their parents. The goal is 2,000 bikes, and for the last 10 years, that goal has been reached.

The community is asked to donate bikes of all conditions, and a team of volunteers will make sure they will be in working order on giveaway day next month. You can also help by providing a monetary donation for supplies or volunteer your time.

"It's a great thing, and it builds memories for a child for their lifetime, and riding a bike is a rite of passage. In many communities here, people actually use these bicycles to get to a job appointment," said CNY Family Bicycle Giveaway Program Coordinator Jan Maloff.

Bikes are collected seven days a week at the dairy cattle building on the state fairgrounds.

Collection times:

  • Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Friday & Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The bike giveaway will take place Saturday, December 23 at Fowler High School starting at 10 a.m.
