Shareholders of the Syracuse Chiefs will pick up $1,400 per share as the details of the sale of the franchise were made public.

New York Mets officials will pay $18 million to buy the team, one of the few publicly owned professional sports teams left in the country.

The Mets have agreed to operate Syracuse through at least the 2025 season, the year the current stadium lease expires.

Shareholders, Major League Baseball officials and Onondaga County still need to approve the sale. The deal could close in December.
