AUSTIN —The Texas Department of Transportation will close Interstate 35 at the Slaughter Creek overpass in alternating directions this Friday and Saturday nights to erect concrete beams for the reconstruction of the bridge.
• Both directions of I-35 mainlanes at Slaughter Creek to be closed, weather permitting
• Closure lasts 9 p.m. until 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights
• I-35 and Slaughter Creek overpass (exit 226) in Travis County
The I-35 mainlanes will be closed and traffic detoured to the frontage roads in both directions at Exit 226 while crews and cranes lift and place the large beams. The closure will run from 9 p.m. until 10 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights, April 28 and 29, weather permitting.

The closure will affect southbound motorists on Friday night and northbound motorists on Saturday night. Traffic will be detoured to the frontage roads during the closure. Ramps and mainlanes will be reopened as work is completed.
Drivers can cross I-35 at either Onion Creek Parkway or Slaughter Lane.
