MENDON, N.Y. -- A man has been charged with DWI following a crash in Mendon early Saturday morning. Firefighters spent more than an hour working to free 21-year-old Jordan Leshner, of Pittsford, from the wreckage of the crash.
Monroe County Sheriff's deputies say Leshner was driving on Clover Street when he veered off the road Friday night. They say his car hit a ditch and flipped on its side, wrapping around a tree.
Honeoye Falls and Rush fire departments were called to the scene facing an extended rescue due to the way the man was pinned.
Firefighters put out an additional request for a chainsaw to help get to the victim.
"The first trick was actually the individual went through a pole and we had to gain access to the vehicle with chainsaws through the trees," said Honeyoe Falls Fire Dept. Assistant Chief Dave Hood. "Then as a follow up the biggest part was securing the vehicle, because as you can see it was on a hill and when we started extricating the vehicle wanted to slide in a variety of different directions."
Leshner is listed in satisfactory condition at Strong Memorial Hospital. He's charged with DWI.
