Acrobats, animal acts, clowns and more are still performing at Cunningham Park through this weekend.
However, organizers say financial struggles over the last few years have led the non-profit to rack up big debts in order to keep the show going.
Now, the circus has set up a website to raise money to help save the circus.
"It could be the last laugh for Big Apple Circus. It would be a much less joyous, less wondrous place. These kids would have fewer opportunities to get right up close and experience culture from all different countries," said Karen Zornow-Leiding, the Director of Marketing for the Big Apple Circus.
"The donations, whatever size, ultimately help us stay as iconic as a part of New York as Central Park, as Grand Central Station," explained Joel Jeske, a clown at the Big Apple Circus.
