LIVERPOOL, N.Y. -- New York state has crowned a new dairy princess.
The 24 finalists have represented their counties and promoted milk and dairy products since last spring. For two days this week, they have competed in tests to earn the crown, with the winner announced Tuesday in Liverpool.
As the dairy princess, the girl travels around the state to show support for children and local farmers, which is a cause they are all personally connected to.
"It means the chance to be able to represent my favorite group of people, the hardworking dairy farmers that I've grown up around. A lot of my family members are dairy farmers, as well, so the chance to be able to represent them and promote their product was incredible," said Stephanie McBath, 2015 NYS Dairy Princess.
Second alternate was April Gokey from Franklin County, first alternate was Jill Michelle DeBlock from Orange County and the New York State Dairy Princess is Emily Ooms from Columbia County.
