YORKVILLE, N.Y. -- Fire destroyed a Yorkville apartment building.

Crews were called to the scene on Whitesboro Street around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Witnesses said they saw flames coming out of the west side of the building.

One local business owner who was driving his child to school, says he knows the people who live there. He says he and several other men ran inside to make sure everyone was out safe.

"When I looked around there was no cops, there was no fire department so who were they to, you know what I mean, maybe God told me to save them, but there was nobody in there so thank God," said Ibrahim Algradi, Yorkville Resident.

The American Red Cross is offering assistance and shelter to three adults and four children ranging from 5 to 9-years-old.

None of the residents were injured.
