According to the Department of Agriculture and Markets, New York has more than 30,000 farms. Today, Spectrum News 1 explores the Voice of the Farmer Garden at the New York State Fairgrounds.
This is the first time the New York State Fair has had something like this. There are many plants here including Christmas trees, flowers and fruits.
A lot of work went into the project by the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Onondaga County. They started growing the garden beds in June to prepare for the fair. The exhibit even has a wading pool of corn, which facilitates a scavenger hunt, and QR codes for learning more about farming.
Check out more than 50 types of plants growing in the garden, near the Expo Center. The Farm Journal is planning a New Mexico garden for later this year, and others in 2024.
