Brighton, New York's Town Councilmember Nate Salzman was inspired to run for office by his high school American Government teacher and football coach, Mr. Wilson. The biggest lesson he has learned during his time in office is the importance of seeking input from the community before making decisions.

Salzman's top priority is making Brighton a more walkable community. He would say his favorite thing about being a councilmember is spending time with his neighbors.

In three words, Salzman would describe his town as "caring, engaged, and welcoming." If he could have lunch with any historical figure, he would choose Frederick Douglass.
