This weekend on In Focus, we’re taking time to recognize the contributions of New Yorkers who served in the military and ways to support veterans across the state.

JoDee Kenney was joined by Chautauqua County Executive Paul Wendel, who says his father’s service in Vietnam inspired his public service and work for veterans across the county.

Next, Kenney sat down with Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich, whose father was wounded twice in combat in World War II. Reilich said, growing up, he learned how these sacrifices made during military service continue after discharge. Reilich is also a member of the Sons of the American Legion, an organization that provides connections to family members of those who served and works to support veterans themselves.

Lastly, Kenney welcomed in Retired Army Lt. Col. Diane GreenPope, Grand Marshal of this year’s Central New York Veterans Parade and Expo, being held at the New York State Fairgrounds Saturday, Nov. 9.

You can watch those interviews in the video player above. And be sure to tune in for a look inside the biggest issues impacting upstate New York on In Focus with JoDee Kenney every Sunday on Spectrum News 1.
